Some people's hands seem to tell the story of their lives. As an artist, I love the challenge of capturing that energy and telling their story. I met Jimmy outside of CHiPS waiting in line. He was clearly well loved by the people around him who made sure he got the food that he waited for. The drawing was done with a copper nib dipped in india ink, so there's a lot of feel in the line.

This piece is part of my exhibition – The Faces of CHiPs - What if God lived in Gowanus? – a series of studies and portraits of the people of CHiPs, a soup kitchen/residence that has served my neighborhood for 50 years. All proceeds from sales of paintings and prints will be donated to CHiPs to further their mission.

The Prints are Gorgeous.

The original is 17" x 14". The prints are beautiful accurate representations of the original, though slightly smaller (16" x 13"). I use Hahnemuhle German Etching paper and print right to the edges. The blacks are black, and the prints are virtually indistinguishable from the originals.
